As a PADI Assistant Instructor you will now be able to help out and display your knowledge and experience in the classroom as well as in the water, you can even teach several courses independently! This next part of your journey will be considerably shorter and most definitely more intense than anything you have completed so far, taking only 4 days from start to finish to complete. Now is your chance to independently stand out from the crowd, and show your PADI Staff Instructor how good you really are. Don't take this one lightly, at this level a genuine 90% of divers need not apply, are you one of the 10% that should? The PADI Assistant Instructor Program is run on a full time basis over a 4 day period, and on most days involves an early start and a late finish. It will focus your attention to not only 'what' should be taught, but also 'how' to teach it. You are now beginning your own personal evolution to a fully fledged PADI Instructor. Yes this is, in simple terms, a grooming course before the next and final stage of your own Personal Underwater Journey to the pinnacle of all PADI Training. It, of course, is also a very valid and useful stand alone course, and should most certainly not be dismissed. Anyone that simply wants to give more, and who classes themselves as a generous and committed member of any training team can benefit massively by completing the PADI Assistant Instructor course. The specific dates of your PADI Assistant Instructor course will be confirmed when you apply, however to give you an idea of the format we have included a sample schedule. This schedule is spread over a two week period, and of course also incorporates an amount of self study work and lecture preparation work. With the PADI Assistant Instructor program you really do need to display an amazing level of both concentration and commitment. Here you are moving away from any last remaining traces of recreational diver, you are about to qualify at a level where you can conduct certain PADI authorised programs yourself independently. Ok, so you now know what your next step is along your personal underwater journey and you also know how much is involved, so take some time and think it through. To some the PADI Assistant Instructor Program is simply more than they are capable of, but to you, we hope it is simply the next great (yet enjoyable) challenger to overcome. To qualify for Assistant Instructor training, you'll need to be: •PADI Divemaster rating or qualifying certification from another certification organization •At least 18 years old •Have 60 logged dives, including night, deep, and navigation dives •Have been a certified diver for at least 6 month · Emergency First Response Course: As a PADI Assistant Instructor or Dive Master you are now eligible to pursue further Instructor Level training, to qualify you to be able to independently teach several PADI courses. The main course that the majority of our PADI Assistant Instructors choose to take, if they are not going to move straight onto the PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor, is the PADI Emergency First Response (EFR) Instructor. The PADI EFR Instructor course is a single day course run at the end of every IDC, where the full instructor candidates complete this course automatically. On this course you will be taught and get to practice the fundamentals of how to teach both divers and non-divers the skills and knowledge that are contained within the Emergency First Response Course. You do need to be an Emergency First responder before attending this course. Not a first aid person from a different training agency. · Open Water Instructor Course 3-4 days This is it! You’ve made it to the top; you are now at the pinnacle of your own Personal Underwater Journey. In a short time you have the opportunity to prove yourself to some of the world’s best diver trainers from PADI itself. At this point you have out performed over 95% of those that initially started their journey at the same time as you, right now you should be feeling incredibly proud of yourself and justifiably so! Your PADI Instructor Development Course is part one of the two stages to becoming a fully qualified PADI Instructor and you will most probably feel by far the hardest. It is designed to fully prepare you, both in knowledge and skills, to face the second stage of the PADl Instructor Examination. The examination is completely external and run by PADI head office itself. At this level of your Personal Underwater Journey, your course must be conducted by a very specific and highly qualified instructor. The complete Instructor Development Course will be run at Dive Academy by PADI Courses Director Clive Albon. The specific timings of the elements of your course may vary and will depend very much on the progress of the group as a whole. You will of course have a considerable amount of self study preparation work, before attending the course. This is now the true sum of everything you have learned so far, whether is has taken you 12 months or 12 years to get to this level; you are now obviously ready to complete your journey. You are ready to become the one at the top who everyone else admires, and most likely secretly aspires to one day be equal to. Once completed you will receive, on payment of your registration fee, a PADI Instructor Development Course completion certificate, this will then allow you to proceed to the next and final level, the PADI Instructor Examination. The examination is totally independent of Dive Academy and is organised by PADI Europe themselves. The PADI Instructor Examination is a two day event, generally held here in Gran Canaria and as we have a Private training pool, most parts will be held again at Dive Academy. Over the two days the examiners from PADI will assess and test every aspect of your instructor training, from swimming ability and confined water skills demonstration to comfort in both lecture and open water situations. The fees for this portion of your transformation into a PADI Instructor may vary and are payable directly to PADI; we can confirm this on application. One additional portion of this program will be of special interest is the PADI Emergency First Response Instructor Course that runs at the end of the course. This of course is a must for any PADI Rescue Diver courses you are planning on running, but also now may open other opportunities for you, as it is now a non-diving specific program. To find out more about this additional instructor level programme, check out the Emergency First Response Instructor Course. So that’s it, you've done all the hard work, you've almost completed your own Personal Underwater Journey, you're one of only a handful that have shown the commitment, ability and skill to get this far lets go for it! In addition, we can provide rebreather try dives, training from IANTD Mod 1 through to Mod 3 and instructor training on the following systems: AP Inspiration and Evolution, Megalodon , Posidon, JJ-CCR and many more. Rebreathers have opened up a whole new dimension in diving, offering the ultimate in gas-efficient 'no bubbles' diving for recreational and technical divers alike. By recycling the gas that we exhale, rebreathers are super-efficient gas management tools that use a fraction of the gas used by conventional open circuit divers. IANTD's range of Rebreather training programs allow you to develop your skills and knowledge of Rebreather diving in a safe, progressive and controlled manner under the direct supervision of your IANTD Rebreather instructor. Building upon your existing knowledge and skills, you'll learn the benefits of Rebreather diving and develop your dive skills to competently prepare and maintain a Rebreather and to safely plan and conduct Rebreather dives. From Entry to Expedition-level, IANTD's Rebreather training programs are at the very cutting edge...IANTD Closed Circuit Rebreather DiverThe IANTD Closed Circuit Rebreather Diver program trains the diver in the theory and practical skills necessary to safely dive using a closed circuit rebreather in the Advanced Nitrox/Advanced Recreational Trimix depth range. You will learn how to strip down, prepare and check the rebreather and how to conduct pre dive safety procedures before each dive and then develop your skills from confined to open water using a closed circuit rebreather. The program qualifies divers in the safe use of a closed circuit rebreather for dives to a maximum depth of 48 msw (160 fsw) if using diluent with helium or 42 msw (140 fsw) if using an air diluent with a maximum of 15 mins of decompression. Course Details: Prerequisites:- Must be an IANTD Advanced EANx Diver or Advanced Recreational Trimix Diver or equivalent - Must be a minimum of 18 years of age Equipment Requirements:- IANTD CCR-specific Diver Student Kit - Own or have unlimited access to an approved closed circuit rebreatherIANTD Normoxic Trimix CCR Diver The IANTD Normoxic Trimix CCR Diver program takes the diver to the next step in their closed circuit training to cover decompression diving in the extended range using a normoxic trimix diluent. Building on the closed circuit procedures learnt in the IANTD CCR Diver program, you will gain the skills and knowledge to extend your closed circuit diving safely. A significant part of the course covers the bailout equipment and procedures necessary to take the diver into the extended range environment whilst using closed circuit equipment. The knowledge and skills taught in the IANTD Normoxic Trimix CCR Diver program qualify divers to perform closed circuit trimix dives to a maximum depth of 60 msw (200 fsw). Course Details: Prerequisites:- Must be an IANTD CCR Diver or equivalent - Must have 20 dives and 25 hours on the rebreather being used - Divers certified as OC Normoxic Trimix may take this course combined with the Rebreather Diver course with qualification given once the 20 dives and 25 hours are logged - Must be a minimum of 18 years of age Equipment Requirements:- IANTD Normoxic Trimix Diver Student Kit for CCR - Own or have unlimited access to an approved closed circuit rebreather IANTD Trimix CCR Diver The IANTD Trimix Closed Circuit Rebreather Diver program trains experienced divers to use a closed circuit rebreather in the full trimix depth range. These are some of the most intensive, yet exhilarating, courses you'll find. Technical diving isn't for everyone but if this type of diving appeals to you and you're willing to accept the risks, responsibilities and obligations, you'll find it one of the most rewarding dive experiences you'll ever have. Technical diving is scuba diving’s “extreme” sport, taking experienced and qualified divers far deeper than in mainstream recreational diving. Technical diving is marked by significantly more equipment and training requirements to manage the additional hazard this type of diving entails. Tec diving isn’t for everyone, but for those who hear its challenge call, the PADI TecRec courses are the answer. What is technical diving? Technical scuba diving is defined as diving other than conventional commercial or research diving that takes divers beyond recreational scuba diving limits. It is further defined as and includes one or more of the following: - diving beyond 40 metres/130 feet deep - required stage decompression - diving in an overhead environment beyond 40 linear metres/130 linear feet of the surface - accelerated decompression and or the use of variable gas mixtures during the dive Because in technical diving the surface is effectively inaccessible in an emergency, tec divers use extensive methodologies and technologies and training to manage the added risks. Even with these, however, tec diving admittedly has more risk, potential hazard and shorter critical error chains than does recreational scuba diving. How long has technical diving been around? Most people would agree that cave diving is a form of technical diving. Cave diving developed in the late 1960s and 1970s, developing into a discipline largely like it is today by the mid 1980s. In the early 1990s, several groups of divers around the world began experimenting with technologies for deep diving (beyond recreational limits) to explore both caves and wrecks. These communities united and emerged as “technical diving” or “tec diving” with the publication of aquaCorps (no longer in print), which dedicated itself to this type of diving. Since then, tec diving continues to develop both in scope and in its technologies. Why would I want to be a tec diver? Tec diving not only has more risk, but it requires significantly more effort, discipline and equipment. It’s not for everyone, and you can be an accomplished, avid top-notch diver your entire life without making a tec dive. That said, there’s a cadre of individuals who want to visit places underwater that relatively few people can. Many spectacular, untouched wrecks lie at depths well below 40 metres/130 feet. Deep reefs have organisms you don’t find in the shallows. Some people enjoy the challenge and focus tec diving requires. Still others love being involved with cutting edge technologies. These reasons make tec diving rewarding. The PADI TecRec Difference The TecRec program debuted in 2000. Although TecRec is not the first tec diving program (cave diver training has been around for decades), it repeatedly receives accolades for its merits. - TecRec courses are integrated into an instructionally valid, seamless course flow that takes you from beginning tec diver to one qualified to the outer reaches of sport diving using different gas mixes. - Each level introduces you to new gear, planning and procedures appropriate to extend your diving limits. - The Tec Diver course is an integrated sequence of three subcourses: Tec 40, Tec 45 and Tec 50. You can complete them continuously, or you can complete each level separately with a time span between them. This gives you learning efficiency, instructional integrity and schedule flexibility. The Scuba Gear You'll Use Tec diving uses much more equipment than recreational diving. The technical scuba geartypically uses two to four or five regulators, a dive computer, and some accessories. Check with your local dive shop about the gear you need for this course. You can find most everything at the PADI Dive Center or Resort in your area. Prerequisites TecRec prerequisites vary (see individual course descriptions), but the following applies to anyone interested in technical diving: You must be: - 18 years or older - A mature, responsible person who will follow the required procedures and requirements strictly and faithfully - Medically fit for tec diving (physician’s signature required) - Willing to accept the added risks that tec diving presents - An experienced diver with at least 100 logged dives - Certified as a PADI Enriched Air Diver and PADI Deep Diver or equivalent (for this program equivalency is proof of training in recreational deep diving 18 meters/60 feet to 40 meters/130 feet consisting of at least four dives and training in nitrogen narcosis considerations, contingency/emergency decompression, making safety stops and air supply management OR, have a minimum of 20 logged dives deeper than 30 meters/100 feet.)SITIOS DE BUCEOArrecife de Arguineguin (desde el barco) El arrecife es justo delante de nuestro centro de buceo y a un paseo corto en el barco hacia fuera. The Blue Bird (Boat dive) This is a ferry which was sunk in an area near Mogan. She lies broken up in a depth of 47m on a sandy bottom. There are no reefs near by so all the marine life congregates around this out crop on an otherwise sandy bottom. The Blue bird is only 30 meters in length, but due to the depth this is never a problem , There are always large schools of Roncadors, Barracudas, Rays and Amberjacks, Angel Sharks, Rays and is must for experienced divers. Please note: Only experienced divers (minimum advanced with 150dives) can make this dive. Log books will be inspected prior to allowing you to dive.Caleta (shore dive) This is one for the Scuba Divers who love Manta Rays (Manta Mobula). It is a very tricky entry/ exit but once you are in the water is very easy. Between the months of September through November you can sit on the sandy bottom and watch as shoals of Mantas fly over the top of you. If you stay still and do not make any sudden movements, then they will come very close in to the divers. There is also a very good reef/ cave dive here as well which is a must for photographers. With large shoals of reef fish and sighting of Greater Amber Jacks. El Goro (shore dive) This is an area of amazing beauty. A place where you can still see all of the layers of laver, from when the volcano was active and the laver flows were running into the sea. With caves and caverns all around, there’s always Rays to be found. A very easy dive for the whole family with lots to see. Las Palmas, The Cathedral (Boat dive) This is also a dive for the more experienced Scuba Diver as the maximum depth is 42m. There are a number of very large arches joining together in the middle, which create a Cathedral with shafts of sun light shinning through all the arches. A truly amazing sight!! There are also many caves which twist around the arches which gives you plenty of opportunities to explore. Sardina de Norte (Shore dive) This is one of the most best kept secrets of Gran Canaria. Maximum depth of 18m. It was once a busy fishing harbour, but now with the fisher men using other harbour, has been left a shelter for all the marine life from Butterfly Rays, Angel Sharks, Electric Rays, Barracuda, and the massive number of reef fish. As it is also the closest point to Tenerife and there are always large pelagic species passing through the gap between the islands. Hole in the Wall This is a great dive which starts of with a reef on your left hand side which comes up from the sandy bottom by 2 m. The maximum depth is 24m Then there is a hole in the wall which you can swim through taking you to the other side of the main reef. This hole is like a magic door, as once you are through it, you will be amazed at the number of fish above you. Then we take you into cave which has a chimney up through the main reef allowing natural light to fill the inside of the cave. Always to be found are to large common rays, which have made the caves their home. Roncadores This is a long dive to the other side of the main reef. The maximum depth is 24m and you need to be good on air to make it there and back. When you drop down to the sandy bottom, you are completely encircled in a massive shoal of fish, including Roncadores, Barracudas, Bream, and many other. There are also a large number of Morays living in this area. The Gorgonians This is a deep, long dive for the experienced diver. It's a roller coaster ride drop down to 30m where there are Gorgonians of up to 2m wide. Also common to this area are Marbled Electric Ray's which will make your hair stand on end. Other marine life includes Gilt Head Bream and in the winter months Angel Sharks. These are to name but a few of the great sites El Carbon has to offer. For Scuba Divers of all levels there are dives for everyone. If you want to make a specific dive, then please ask and we will do anything we can do give you the dive you want!!
