O Festival Ortigueira resiste a crise e a forte competencia confirmándose como a cita musical por excelencia do verán

De novo, Ortigueira converteuse durante as 96 horas de música en liberdade no encontro multicultural por excelencia do verán. As estimacións de urxencia apuntan a que a cifra de público achégase a 95.000 persoas. Así, a pesar da competencia frontal exposta este ano por outros festivais que, sen dúbida, deixouse sentir na afluencia de visitantes, o certame folk logrou manter o liderado no que se refire a poder de convocatoria a nivel nacional.

The Festival took place in 1978 for the first time. In the year 2000, the Festival broadened its musical horizon towards other kinds of music, which do not have to be strictly Celtic.

The Festival, organised by Ortigueira’s local government, was assigned the status of being an Event of National Touristic Importance, an award given in 2003 by the Ministry of Finance.

In May of 2005, the folk meeting was declared International Turist Interest Festival. Only 29 events in Spain posses this distinction nowadays.
